Selfishness—Allowed to Rule—or Not

Dear reader, as you probably know, the world is currently going through an evolutionary process in human consciousness which is creating an obvious difference in the way many human beings think and feel. Some feel it best to continue with the older ways of living, while others are seeking and many are demanding the need for a more advanced and more harmonious way of living. This evolutionary process has been going on for centuries because of the need to prepare human consciousness for the coming New Age (the next 2000 years) in which many new cosmic energies will be flowing into our world; new energies which will transform the way human beings think and feel in their daily life.

Every person will respond a little differently to these new energies depending on where they are on their evolutionary scale. If one is still focused entirely on the lower personality self, then that is what will become more stimulated (because energy follows thought) and this could enhance either good or bad ways of thinking and reacting. If one is focused entirely upon the lower self, say narcissistically, then this person’s demand for love and attention will expand significantly. On the other hand, if these same energies impact a person whose consciousness is more awakened and inclusive and open to the desire to serve the needs of others, then this more soul oriented desire will be equally stimulated and will likely change the focus of this person’s life outwardly and much less on the lower self. The mind of such a person will be much more selflessly active as compared to the other person whose actions may be totally selfish. So these new inflowing energies will stimulate most of the common people of the world as well as the leadership of each nation. Where human consciousness is focused may determine the existence of war or peace. Will selfish little personalities be allowed to rule the countries of the world or will the more awakened and soul oriented people demand a more harmonious type of leadership who will sit down and negotiate different conflicts between nations? This is the big question facing us today.

Of course this question of selfishness doesn’t apply just to the position of leadership; it shows up around the world. “Humanity has the habit of selfishness and an inherent love of material possessions. This has produced our modern civilization and, for this reason, it is being changed”.(1) Yes, it has to be changed because the coming Aquarian Age will require it.

These changes must occur not only in our personal life, but also in our economic, our political and our religious life. The material forces of nature are very strong and are causing so many of us to hold on strongly to the density of materialism. It is a strong economic power. Yes, we all need a place to live, clothes to wear, food to eat, water to drink, and live a healthy life . But no one in the world should have to live without these basic necessities. Where they are not available they must be restored. What selfishness has taken away must now be returned, and this involves the current selfish flow of money.

When money can flow in the opposite direction, away from the flow to the wealthy billionaires, then it will aid and restore the life and health of all the more common people in the world. Restoration is defined as a “return to its original state”, suggesting that today humanity has fallen from grace or descended from a high state into a lower. Restoration touches on this sense that something more perfect, something finer, existed in our past and needs to be restored and re-manifested on Earth. Apparently, thousands of years ago, humanity had created a higher and a more refined world civilization (at least the world as it was then), where selfishness had not gained so much power as it has today due to the current selfish flow of money. The higher and more refined power lies within the power of the human Soul, ones higher Self which acts as a medium between the divine Deity (God) and every human personality. It is by way of the Soul that the inflowing energy of divine Love-Wisdom flows into the world. If the focus of one’s life is entirely on the lower self, the personality, this energy will stimulate and increase the power of goodwill in many other people. Remember this ancient saying: goodwill is the touchstone that will transform the world. The Aquarian Age will see this happen. “This sign of Aquarius, that of the water-carrier, is a living sign and an emotional sign. It will (through the effect of its potent force) stimulate the astral bodies of men (and women) into a new coherency, into a brotherhood of humanity which will ignore all racial and national differences and will carry the life of men and women forward into synthesis and unity. This means a tide of unifying life of such power that one cannot now vision it but which—in a thousand years—will have welded all mankind into a perfect brotherhood. Its emotional effect will be to “purify” the astral bodies of men and women so that the material world ceases to hold such potent allure, and may in its later stages bring about a state of exaggeration as potent in the line of sentiency as that which we have undergone in the line of materiality”. (2)

From this comforting quotation one sees that the coming age will refine and uplift human consciousness to a new height; that the power of selfishness, employed today by many of the wealthy oligarchs, will diminish and hopefully the creating of a more perfect and orderly way of life out of the present chaos will be possible; new construction out of past destruction will occur. And hopefully selfishness, which now rules much of the world, will diminish and be replaced by a loving sense of goodwill and brotherhood. The more you love, the more the energy of love can reach out through you to others, and that is a way to create change, because love is a building energy. So, dear reader, let’s let this inflowing energy build a new world of goodwill and selflessness. Let’s let selflessness Rule!
