A Withering of the Law

Little is known of Sri Krishna, a great spiritual Life, for much is lost in the annals of time, but through myths, legends, and spiritual scriptures, his name is still venerated in many parts of the world. Even today he stands as a beacon of light and as a fount of wisdom to those who resonate to his ageless message of love.

Some may see him as the great robed charioteer in the classic Hindu epic, The Bhagavad Gita, which has been so elegantly described as “the symphonic vision of God in all things and of all things in God”, teaching and reassuring Arjuna in his spiritual quest. Others may see him as the revered historical spiritual figure, who walked the earth about 5000 years ago and who, the spiritual sciences inform us, was an earlier incarnation of the Christ, who appeared 3000 years later. Ancient sources portray Sri Krishna as an austere and studious man, a philosopher and a noble statesman, and whose mission brought about greater political stability, and religious and economic reform. Amongst many others, there is a particular passage in the Gita that has great resonance even today, at the close of one great cycle and at the beginning of another (Sri Krishna speaks to Arjuna):

“Whenever there is a withering of the Law and an uprising of lawlessness on all sides, then I manifest Myself.  For the salvation of the righteous and the destruction of such as do evil, for the firm establishing of the Law, I come to birth in age after age.” (The Bhagavad Gita, IV 7-8)

The spiritual sciences inform us that every 2000 thousand years, the sun gradually passes out of the influence of one zodiacal constellation into another. So, today, we are moving out of the influence of Pisces into that of Aquarius. These powerful extra-systemic conditioning energies in time allow the development of higher qualities or characteristics in the human family, and for that matter, all life upon our planet. This influx of new energies (embodying different values and ideas), coupled with those which are slowly passing out of manifestation, are causing great disruption and confusion, in the minds and lives of many in the world at this time. The gradual erosion and breakdown of the old institutions, ways of life and values, are indicative of the current state of world affairs. But before the new rhythm is established, there is much soul searching, unrest and crisis.

It is at these tumultuous times, when the foundations of established culture and civilisation are crumbling that a great Avatar or World Teacher appears to plant the seeds of new spiritual ideas and principles that will shape the next two thousand year cycle. In the lawless and corrupt period of the Roman Empire, the Christ came, and not only embodied the essence of love, but visibly demonstrated it, and taught others to do likewise. Both the messages of Sri Krishna and the Christ, along with other great spiritual Luminaries, such as the Buddha, Muhammad, Moses and Zoroaster, complement each other, they reveal an unfolding presentation of divine truth over the millennia. Perhaps, Christ’s message that God is love, is one of the most profound truths to date that has ever been revealed to humanity in its long evolutionary journey.

Today, at the end of one cycle, and at the start of another, is it not possible that a newer message, fitting for our age, and relevant to the crises of our modern world will emanate from the Father’s House and also sound the keynote, the underlying divine Idea or Purpose, of the next two thousand year cycle. What profound truth(s) will be revealed in the future is impossible to speculate upon but we can be assured that they will speak to the very heart of humanity and appeal to the reason of sincere people of goodwill everywhere. The Fiat of the Lord has gone forth, and scientifically and by law, the Christ will return to complete the mission that he embarked upon many thousands of years ago.
