Since the Spiritual Perspectives Blog was launched in April 2019, over 130 blog posts have been published. This is due in no small part to the generous and thoughtful support of the small team of writers, drawn from all parts of the world. Blog posts on a wide range of themes, such as psychology, philosophy, religion, government and science, are posted each month to help unfold an ever deeper understanding of critical human and world issues.
To many, and quite understandably, the many global challenges seem bewildering and insurmountable. But when we start to probe deeper and observe the growing response to confront and find credible and lasting solutions to the plethora of problems, we begin to recognise that crises are not only an intrinsic part of human experience but they also provide opportunities to grow in understanding and spiritual stature.
Amongst the many problems in the world, the energy and climate crises loom large. But, perhaps, there is a glimmer of light piercing through the veils of gloom. Recent news reports suggest that a major advance in the ‘holy grail’ of energy production, nuclear fusion, has been made in the USA. Scientists, we are informed, have been able to produce more energy in their experiments than the energy put in. Nuclear fusion has been described as a “potential source of near-limitless clean energy.” Currently, nuclear power is produced through a process of fission, in which atoms are split apart. Fusion, on the other hand, fuses atoms, and is far safer. Unlike fission, fusion does not generate the waste that gives out radiation for a long period of time. And, whilst, there is still much work to do to scale the technology up, a further step forward has been achieved.
It is interesting to reflect that it was John E W Keely, an American in the late nineteenth century, who nearly discovered the awesome power of nuclear power. And, although, conducting many experiments, and precipitously close to a greater understanding, he was never able to take it further. It was not until the 1940s that scientists were able to harness nuclear energy (fission) successfully. We can only conclude that “there is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens”. There is much which lies hidden or at best veiled, until such time as the right circumstances permit further understanding and discovery. Perhaps, this is where we are in regard to nuclear fusion, at the frontiers of a new atomic age, but only when human consciousness has evolved sufficiently to harness this cosmic energy responsibly and for the benefit of all life upon our planet.
There are an increasing number of intuitively-inclined thinkers, who are sensitive to the new emerging order, not only from the scientific community but also from all walks of life, from all schools of thought – the sciences, government, religion and economics. Together they are laying the foundations of a better world order, fit for the twenty-first century and beyond, in which people can live in dignity, free from want, and lead creative and fulfilling lives.
A new world is materialising in consciousness. One way in which we can accelerate its emergence is to form a triangle of light and love. We hope that the Spiritual Perspectives Blog is helping to deepen understanding of the human journey from darkness to light, to analyse the underlying fault lines which hold the human family back from reaching its rich spiritual potential, and in so doing to think through practical yet visionary solutions to the wave of crises that seems to overwhelm us. It is not always easy to view events from a spiritual perspective, to see ‘God in all things and of all things in God’, but every effort to do so connects us with the divine flow of Life.
So, let us work towards a better world in our own small way, knowing that there are countless hundreds of thousands, if not more, doing likewise.
